Reflect during the year-end holidays and prepare for the New Year with a fellowship on making and keeping meaningful personal affirmations. Our Himalayan siddha monk and living saint, His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda, will inspire us on how to emulate revered role models and use guardrails (values that build moral strength) to climb up the ladder of dharma, whereby hidden virtues enable us to fructify doable affirmations.
His Holiness will expand upon the dharma teaching concept of conserve and transmit, and why it is necessary to guide the younger generation to develop a sense of belonging to a group or parental lineage even if there are differences of opinion or distinct personality traits. He will articulate the value of discipline and guardrails as they relate with humane dharma and developing emotional maturity.
His Holiness will emphasize why the choice is not between undisciplined freedom to break all systems and a traditional guardrail of morality and decency. He will articulate that the choice is between accepting one of the traditions more suited to one’s intellectual and moral traits or charting a path by harmonizing elements of different traditions. Herein the tradition is the inherited or easily available system of guardrails that grooms the upbringing and values. After all it is the background of tradition and the guardrails of dharma coupled with discipline that safeguard the success of fructifying affirmations, even when very difficult affirmations are attempted.
Experience Sanskrit chanting for peace and goodwill and see ceremonial fire from the live vespers offered to our meditation altar at the conclusion of the fellowship.
