Worldwide Livestream Fellowship

January 2, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm PST

What are the Omens of Protection?

New Year Message on Signs which Spiritual Aspirants can Recognize as Protection

About the Event

Welcome the New Year with our worldwide sangha during a special livestream fellowship with Himalayan siddha monk and living saint, His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda. Conclude the holiday season and begin the New Year with hope and a deeper understanding of what is the proimise of blessings that are revealed through omens of protection.

His Holiness will share inspiring insight about the telltale signs that signify spiritual protection from heavenly beings, meditation-masters, saints, rishi-sages, siddha-adepts, iṣta or benevolent gods, and ascribed to the grace of the supreme personality of God.

His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda will expand on the Yoga-Vedanta framework that defines the unmistakable omens of protection conferred upon a spiritual aspirant. He will define swādhyāya in the context of earnest prayer, invocation, and contemplation. His Holiness will expand on what happens when swādhyāya is established and the communion with higher beings is fructified.

Key themes from the discourse:

What are the omens that signify protection?
Are there omens of protection which are visible?
Is simple fear of God enough to usher protection?
Are the invisible signs of higher protection palpable?
Does one need to meditate in order to receive blessings?
Do heavenly beings, sages, and adepts assist the aspirant?
Is a sincere aspirant capable of recognizing the divine helper?
Is devotional understanding a prerequisite to recognize the divine help?
What is the correct interpretation of Patañjali Yogasutra, Aphorism-44 of Chapter-2?

What you will learn

His Holiness will discuss the concept of duritaxaya which is the visible result of saving grace that relates with the warding off of calamities and misfortunes. There is firstly the warning given by the satguru (meditation-master) or the Iṣta (chosen deity of swādhyāya) of the impending difficulty or danger. Then as the divine relationship intensifies, the invisible result arises, through which an aspirant gains the aiśvarya – the occult powers that render the aspirant infallible and bold in the outer world. The last result of the special blessings is known as krama-mukti or release from misery by successive steps of spiritual progress wherein the aspirant is gifted with intuition of correct knowledge.

His Holiness will explain the correct interpretation and meaning with reference to Sage Vyasa’s commentary of Aphorism-44 in Chapter-2 from Patanjali Yogasutra. He will discourse on what happens when there is communion with higher beings. The heavenly beings, sages and celestials become palpable to the aspirant and the yogin’s noble aspirations are fulfilled. Invocation of God made sometimes earnestly during troubles, but otherwise mechanically with the mind preoccupied with worldly affairs does not produce these breakthrough experiences.

Each person is potentially divine. Divinity can be unraveled through mindful voluntary action related to higher yoga and meditation. Although godliness exists in potential form, it needs a reason to express itself. Voluntary action needs to be effected mindfully to obtain desired results. If higher yoga is practiced voluntarily and diligently, the practitioner may attain liberation even in a single lifetime.

His Holiness will deliver this discourse as a spiritual message and address the need of taking bonafide approaches for solving the dilemma or crisis, rather than trying shortcut power-yoga or intellectually attractive methods of resolution that do not work.

Additionally, feel the impact of sublime Sanskrit chanting and darshan blessings during the broadcast. The livestream fellowship will conclude with vespers (ārati). We will be streaming live from Santa Barbara, California. We have invested in a backup internet service provider to ensure a more seamless transmission of our livestreams.
