Join us for an up-close and deeply spiritual commemoration of the birth anniversary of Swami Hariharananda Paramahansa, the monastic master of His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda. Be in the saintly presence of His Holiness Swami Vidyadhishananda on this auspicious occasion and listen to sublime chanting and devotional songs related to his own satguru. Imbibe the blessings of mantra chanting and vespers offered at our Meditation Altar by Swami Vidyadhishananda.
Hear how Swami Hariharananda Baba spent his childhood and training years in Puri’s Karar ashram to become a spiritual giant. You will get to know how Tryambaknath (Mahavatar Babaji) conferred blessings to him and how this was responsible for about 50% of his realization. Listen to inspiring stories about his interaction with his satguru Swami Sriyukteshwar during a three year period from 1932. Learn about his close association with three great disciples of Swami Sriyukteshwar, namely, Swami Satyananda, Swami Narayan and Paramahansa Yogananda. See rare video footage from his teaching years and learn about his wisdom teachings.
Paramahansa Hariharananda was born on an auspicious combination of a full moon on a Monday, during the early morning. His birth date of 27th May 1907 is on Vaishākha purnimā also popularly known as Buddha purnimā, as the great Gautama Buddha was born on this same Vedic soli-lunar calendar day. Swami Hariharananda’s birthstar of Anuradha naxatra (a lunar asterism) accorded him a sweet endearing voice with a feminine quality, typical of males born under this star. Incidentally, he closed his life also during Anuradha naxatra but this time on a new moon evening.
An Ayurvedic vegetarian lunch (gluten free and mostly vegan) will be served in the courtyard of our Cabrillo Meditation Centre (CMC). There will be a full moon beach walk followed by open-eye meditation gazing at the moon (weather permitting) starting at 7:15pm, and is open to all registrants who are able to stay back. The moonrise is at 7:34pm just before the 7:41pm sunset. We will gather at the East beach near the volleyball courts for this peace walk and meditation. Additional instructions will be available during the morning fellowship.

8:45pm – Closure of evening open-eye meditation
Travel & Flights
We recommend flying into either LAX or SBA. SBA is half an hour drive from our centre, whereas LAX is a minimum 2 hour drive. Car rental may not be necessary, but could be helpful. Some rides will be provided by local Los Angeles and Santa Barbara area devotees.
Accommodations
Guests should book their own overnight accommodations at a nearby hotel, hostel or campsite. Your registration covers the expense of the catered meal and rentals. If you wish to make a charitable, tax-deductible donation to support this program and the Nonprofit’s curriculum, there will be an opportunity to do so during registration or in-person at the fellowship.
